Dinner was served in a private dining room, the food was very nice (but if you cant eat Japanese food definitely bring something to eat as you cant buy anything at the temple). The onsen was modern and clean, men and women are separated. Thank you very much, would definitely recommend!

Koyasan
清浄心院 is situated in Koyasan, 45 km from Matsushita Park, 47 km from Subaru Hall, and 49 km from Jigenin Temple. It is set 39 km from Kishi Station and features full-day security. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. I have stayed in quite a few places in Japan but this is my favorite for so many reasons: - You are staying in a temple monastery and you can see and feel that everywhere. You are staying in a piece of history. - the graveyard is one minute walking away (I went there three times in different times of the day) - you get a free tour of temple, can attend the morning prayer and a fire ceremony - the staff was super kind and some spoke very good English - I could check in early - the food is something very different than usual - there is an Onsen instead of a traditional shower room (bathing hours are limited see below) - the wifi is good
Gion, Kyoto

Among the facilities at this property are full-day security and luggage storage space, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The ryokan features family rooms. Cannot recommend Gion Kyoka enough. Actually, I'd prefer to give a negative review to prevent everyone from booking this lovely ryokan in the most amazing location in Gion Kyoto. Their team went above and beyond to make arrangements for our party at temples like Saiho-ji. Thank you Miyata-san and the rest of your staff for making our stay exceptional. I hope to visit again soon.
Shirahama Onsen, Shirahama

The property is around 2 km from Shirahama Art Museum, 2.1 km from Shirahama Aquarium Kyoto University and 2.7 km from Kishu Museum of Art. The ryokan features family rooms. This place has a 9.1 rating and most reviews seem too good to be true but trust me on this, this place is THAT good. And I would rate this hotel a 100 out of 10 if I can, the high rating is truly deserved. The staff is very kind and welcoming. The rooms are clean, spacious, and the futon is comfortable. The location is great, there are many food places nearby, the beach is just a few minutes walk away (you can even see it from your room depending on where you are placed), and the bus stop which will take you to the station or most places around Shirahama is very near.

The japanese style of the room reminded us a classical Ryokan. Sleeping on a futon and tatami floor is a great experience. The location of the hotel is perfect because it allows to reach easily the subway and the train station.
Beautiful Ryokan style hotel. Lovely room and a very hot private bath. Had an amazing time in Kinosaki Onsen. Everything is on the main street really and they provide you with yukata and sandals to go out in. Byo tabi socks!
State of the art hospitality and professional service from the staff! The traditional Japanese ryokan style room was truly stunning and a pleasure to experience. Yukata set is also provided by the hotel which can be used while exploring the Onsen Town.
The hosts were extremely gracious, and I love that it’s family-owned, in the building they live in! There is lovely tatami in the rooms and pretty comfy futons, with beautiful, minimalist decoration. Yukata and tea were provided for a full, relaxing ryokan stay.
It's a ryokan in a high building where you get yukatas, bento breakfast (beef is best), futons on the floor and a wonderful indoor onsen. We lived there for 3 nights and the best time to vizit the onsen was at 4 pm or about midnight. We walked to Gyon and Kiyomizu-dera, it took about 30-40 min.
The Ryokan is literally 1min walk from the station, in a peatonal street full of shops. The personal was very kind and they were always trying to help. They took care of our luggage before the check in and after the check out. The room was amazing with tatami floor and they left a yukata for each gest. The Onsen was amazing and very relaxing. The breakfast was incredible, everything in the menu was amazing and very tasty. 100% recommended
If you want to spend a few nights in a real ryokan (not the edulcorated-for-tourist replicas), this might be the real deal. Wooden and paper panels, tatami, futons, internal garden, traditional shower, in-room tea-set, yukatas, and many other details. My kids (14 and 11 y.o) said this was the best hotel in our 3-weeks-trip throughout Japan. The staff is very kind and eager to make your stay great.
traditional tatami room with futon, welcome tea with sweets, Japanese Yukata, small Japanese courtyard, free onsen, happy-hour tea and snacks, and friendly staffs
Very welcoming monks Very close to the bus station and at a walking distance from the temples (careful, you must be back to the ryokan by 5pm) Dinner and breakfast (vegetarian) are delicious and served directly in the room The room was cosy and traditional, with comfortable futons, and yukatas are available There is a large hot tub, similar to an onsen to be shared with the other guests, this is where you shower too (you must be comfortable with nudity) We attended the morning ceremony, a unique moment
Gorgeous ryokan with good onsens. It was my first traditional Japanese hotel and onsen, so I was very impressed by hospitality, kaiseki dinner, the view, the room with tatami, yukata and hot springs. Totally recommend it!
